Job description
As a Pre-Treatment Plant Operative / Waste Operative / Mobile Plant Operator, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of a waste pre-treatment facility, ensuring materials are processed safely and efficiently before disposal or recycling.
This is a physically active, operational role combining plant operation, site maintenance, and waste processing, ideal for candidates with experience in waste management, recycling, or heavy plant environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating and maintaining the pre-treatment plant and processing equipment
- Using SCADA systems to monitor and control plant operations
- Managing traffic flow within the tipping hall
- Loading bulkers and refuse vehicles
- Operating mobile plant machinery (loading shovel, 360 material handler)
- Carrying out cleaning and maintenance of conveyors and plant equipment
- Completing intrusive cleaning tasks within the plant
- Performing daily plant checks, greasing, refuelling, and defect reporting
- Ensuring all health & safety and environmental procedures are followed
Pay & Benefits:

Shift Pattern:
- 12-hour shifts (days & nights rotation)
- Start times: 07:00 or 19:00
- Monday to Saturday (no Sundays)

Requirements:
- Previous experience in waste management / plant operations / recycling (preferred)
- Experience operating mobile plant (loading shovel / 360 handler) (advantageous)
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts
- Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
- Physically fit and able to work in a hands-on environment
- Reliable, flexible, and hardworking attitude
