Job description
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of construction projects, working closely with the Commercial Manager, Construction Managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver cost-effective, high-quality timber frame projects ranging from £50K to £5M.
This construction QS role involves full responsibility for cost control, contract administration, financial reporting, and subcontractor management, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client expectations.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing project setup, cost planning, and cost control across multiple construction projects

Handling contract administration and commercial compliance

Leading subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and payment processes

Monitoring cash flow, financial performance, and risk management

Producing detailed monthly cost reports for senior management

Reviewing and negotiating contract terms and subcontract agreements

Supporting and mentoring Assistant Quantity Surveyors

Collaborating with pre-construction, construction, and finance teams

Ensuring adherence to Health & Safety and environmental policies

Requirements:

Experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Commercial QS / Project QS
-
Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management OR RICS membership (or working towards)

Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes

Experience in cost control, value engineering, and financial reporting

Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Ability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously

Strong understanding of UK construction regulations and compliance
